We ran today. Officially, it was 7 miles - mapmyrun.com says that it was 7.25. However far it was, I ran it in 75 minutes and a bit. I've been running with a group of about 6 folks. I went to karate open workout this evening for about an hour and a half. I had fun, even though it wasn't quite the way I had planned to. ( Cut because this got long and rambly and I don't know how many people will want to read so many of my scatered thoughts on karate. )

I realized that it's been a long time since I have talked about karate here. I'm still going most Tuesdays (for classes) and some Fridays (for open workouts). I am finding that there is enough material that I have learned that I have trouble keeping it all in mind. ( Also, I seem to be getting into a stage where I will be getting more attention from the instructors. )

kyttn and I are safely home from GAFilk, having had a good con! I'll be resting a little and she's talking with her daughter. I may write some sort of con report later, or may not. It depends on my mood.

I've uploaded some pictures that kyttn took of me and others in the race today. I am in the process of uploading the 98 or so that don't easily show me - she thought it would be kind to take pictures of many of the people as they crossed the finish line. We're back from my running in the Charlottesville Men's 4-Miler. My main goal was to complete the thing in fewer minutes than I am years old. I was pretty sure that that was not going to be a problem, with the training that I have been doing the last 2 months. My more challenging goal was to get my time into the previous decade. I've learned recently that the folks running the Men's Four Miler don't have formal pledge forms or such for getting money beyond the registration fee, as I had expected. I've had several good days in my two primary exercise sources. Friday, I learned the end of Pyung An 5, and then Saturday, I jogged 4 miles without any walking in about 41 minutes. (We walked a quarter mile in a bit over 5 minutes before and after the jogging, and my total time was 50:42). It looks like my goal of being able to do the ( Read more... )
