Title : Glory Days Author : firenze083 Rating : R Pairing : H/W, H/S, H/Cu, H/Cam Spoilers : General Disclaimer : Not mine. Summary : The way he’s different and sort of the same, before and after.
There are a lot of individual lines that I loved, but my favorite bit was Secretly (selfishly, cruelly), a part of him is relieved that House loses some of himself after the infarction. Cripples some of him that otherwise no one could contain; Wilson is certain that he would not be able to deal with something like that again.
I love fics that emphasize what an athlete House was before the infarction, but I've never seen it done from the perspectives of all four of these guys in one fic. The structure of the story, with each getting their own part, reminded me of a mountain where Wilson was the peak, but I'm not sure if that was your intention.
Yes, actually--I had hoped to make it so that Wilson never really gets to resolve his own issues with House. Everything from after his perspective shows at least some kind of ending (with Stacy), consummation (as it was with Cuddy) or resolution (Cameron).
So there. Thank you very much for your insight and your review!
I really like the before and after images of Stacy, and how Cuddy's memories of House filter into House now. The Wilson and Cameron bits are also sharply tuned to those relationships. Great piece, I've recommended it at TWoP.
This is brilliant. The opening, the way you structure this around the way everyone feels around House; stepping in, but stepping back straight away. The last section with Cameron tops it off perfectly, not just because she cluelessly instigates all this, but because she's infinitely curious, and she can't know.
The ketamine stuff echoes the pre-infarction stuff, and you manage to make it all regretful without being sad or hollow.
In her head, there’s a buzzer, no more world and time. Glory days are over. What a lovely, spare, writing style. You have the control of a drabble, but there's a lot more in the story.
Anyway, I loved this so, so much. Do you mind if I rec on housefic_meta?

It would be impossible for her to fall in love with him then.
Nowadays, there are times, bursts of moments, when she looks to him as if he could follow her up the stairs and is surprised when he can’t.
(What lives and dies with the muscle in his leg?)
Wonderful. And I love the way you began and ended with Cameron - the one character in the fic 'who is clueless of all this but infinitely curious'.
:D
