One of the great lies of the English nursery. Words are what make it possible for people to harm others: they set up legitimate targets, dehumanise the target, and ultimately excuse the attacker.
As this turned out particularly well, I thought I'd post it here. Last night I had one vegetarian guest and one guest I knew would happily eat vegetarian as long as there was one meat dish, so I made tapas and it all went well

I've just seen a thing on facebook in which a cis friend tells a trans friend that she is never going to look in a mirror and see a pretty girl look back because all women are conditioned to see themselves as works in progress, with things they want to fix
