Work got really busy. Assisting in the planning of Get A Clue got really busy. Thank God chess season is, for the most part, over.

Takes a licking, keeps on ticking . . .
This morning, I was awakened by the alarm clock. Bev and I had been entertaining thoughts of attending a 7:30 Palm Sunday service before meeting some friends for breakfast, and then testing puzzles for the 2007 edition of Get A Clue. Ramble On
Engineers make poor writers. People who become engineers may have won spelling bees in middle school, or been English student of the year, or maybe even earned a 3 or better on the AP English Literature exam. NCAA Tournament
Like many friends and acquaintances, I too was drawn into the fray, and made many picks. Some proved to be minor strokes of genius (I'm the only one I know who picked all four 8-v-9 games correctly), and some proved to be pure folly (George Washington can surely upset Vanderbilt! Um, oops). But this happens to everyone who plays every year.

Electric Blues
We've known for a while that 2007 would be "The Year The Aussies Visit Us For A Change". But somehow, it didn't really sink in until a few weeks ago, after we had purchased a new bed for our room, and moved the old one into the guest bedroom. The computer room is looking more and more organized. I'd like to take credit for that, but Bev had two days off from school last week. One for Presidents Day, one for medical appointments. We called an electrician to look at a few problems, such as a dangling fixture over the kitchen sink, and a floodlight I installed years ago that stopped ( Read more... ) -
Weekend accomplishments
0. (Completed Wednesday through Friday) Had two storm doors installed on front and back doors. Then learned how to lock the front one properly - it's complicated. At least the back one is normal. Can't wait to see how much this reduces the heating bill, but I'll probably have to since there isn't much winter left for us here.

Spirits are using me, larger voices callin' (part five of many)
I got to ride shotgun, which in this case is the front left seat. Dad drove, with Mom and Bev in the back seat. Pauline and Dwayne rode separately. About halfway to town, I spotted something moving in the road up ahead, and called it out to Dad. I stayed home yesterday and today with symptoms that seem to indicate food poisoning. The most likely culprits would be my favorite trivia hangout, or possibly a serving of yogurt on which no expiration date was printed. Or some dip at a Super Bowl party ( Read more... )
