I'm debating whether or not to get rid of all of my beading/jewelry supplies. I have a couple thousand dollars worth of beads, stones, notions, tools, and other supplies that have been hanging out taking up space in my closet for the last few years, and it suddenly dawned on me today that maybe I'm ready to just ditch everything. It either needs to ( Read more... )

I don't bead much, but I might be interested in some of the stuff that I could multi-purpose for jewelry making. I also know some beaders that might be interested in your inventory - although they will be looking for deals.

WE NEED TO TALK!

Of course, obviously the best thing for me would be to sell it all as a job lot ... make me an offer and you get it ALL, good bad or indifferent. You could literally open your own jewelry business tomorrow with what I've got.

However, I'd of course let friends come and take a look and see if they see anything they want. And I'm more than ready to deal. This was money spent several years ago so it's basically all been written off by now, and whatever I get would be gravy, in a manner of speaking.

I found a craigslist listing that is similar to what I have, and they are asking $3750 for the lot.

My first thought would be to post the whole lot on Craigslist and see if you get a taker.

I'm seriously considering that. Open House, bring cash and a vehicle to take your goodies home in. I have everything from seed beads to semi-precious stones and sterling silver, so I know it will appeal to buyers if I can locate them!

It would be ideal to just find one buyer who wants to give me a flat dollar amount for all of it, of course, but if that isn't happening I'm open to a 'garage sale'. Probably I should wait til the weather improves so people could actually park at my house, though!

Rough estimate, it's about $5-6K worth of stuff, including the various storage containers and displays.

You could also talk to Kris (who comes to Carin's SnBs, are you friends on here? couplandesque in any case). She works at the bead store in MOA and might be helpful...

I think I have met Kris a couple of times at Carin's, actually, but didn't know that was her on lj!

Thank you, that's excellent advice and you are fab. Would you be a dear and let her know that I am going to friend her on lj and that I'm not stalking her? :)

Awesome, thank you! I left her a comment that we had met at Carin's so maybe she'll remember me. Then again, there are about 17 Jennifers in that group, so ...

Be sure to point this out to whittier_strong aka i12bmore. He's getting into jewelry making pretty heavily right now, and I'm sure he'd be interested.

Wow, you are awesome! I commented on his journal. Would you mind dropping him a note and letting him know that we do know each other and I'm not spamming him? I mentioned your name but a personal mention might be good too. THANK YOU!!
