I am back in town on "family business" so I spent some time with an old friend. We went to the local cinema to catch an evening showing of Syriana. Fucking $9.50 for a popcorn and a slushee. But this post is about more important things than the rising price of movie concessions.

This time of year, storms in Alaska usually send wacky currents of water down the coast and cause great swells in the surf. This was not the case on Wednesday. ( My adventure with Dell's customer care and technical support. All I wanted was a replacement LCD monitor. )

Me and the girlfriend are talking about us without being in the same room. It's kinda weird, but I can still "see" her, read her body language and her facial expressions. iChat is a wonderful program; the UI and sound quality are leaps and bounds better than AIM chat or MSN chat.

Testing testing...is this thing on?

I'm making a note for myself that I need to rent "Catch Me If You Can" because my girlfriend hasn't seen it, and I enjoy watching Leonardo diCaprio's character weasel his way into and out of various situations, playing the part with aplomb. Sometimes I'd like to do that.
