The book, being so old that it's public domain, is available on Project Gutenberg, although sadly, like many of the early PG texts, there's no HTML only ascii with brave attempts at ascii-art.
But it's a good book :-)

Am now finished with jury service, having pointlessly turned up at the court five times.

Summer studentship application was unsuccessful.

Trying to revise, but have only got through 1.5 of the 28 units.

I love today's xkcd cartoon. So much that I'm going to save it and use it in my New Lecturer Programme dissertation.

Quite true actually. My mum has often told me how bad my projectile vomiting was as a baby.

The last assignment is due on Wednesday. It has come to my notice that Monday is some kind of holiday and won't have post. Therefore I'd probably need to post it Saturday morning.

So, Monday. I have to go to a 2-day training course in York, intended to train us science postdocs to "engage with schools". Fair enough - I find talking about maths to school pupils infinitely preferable to talking about it to adults, who tend to persistently say "But what use is it?"
