Fluffy stuff on the ground, 18 degrees, so not going to melt for about a week. The up-side? The snow fills in all the cracks that let in the cold air, so acts as an insulator. I received an email from my phone provider the other day giving me my password for an account I didn't set up. Contacted the service, they said they couldn't change the email in the account without the user's permission. It's frickin' cold here! Went out in the dark yesterday evening to clip all the green tomatoes, but discovered this morning that I missed some. Brought them in anyway, but since it got down into the low 20's last night, they probably will just wilt. I haven't worn a costume in ages, since the larger scifi conventions in our area no longer exist. So when Oktoberfest rolled around, and the folk who hired our band wanted us to dress up, I couldn't resist. Turned out to be one of the easiest costumes I've made. OK! I have officially not been affected by the gov't shutdown/slowdown. Social Security payment was in the bank this morning. So that means my medicare is paid also. Life goes on in the normal way. Sure wish this prez would just sit down and negotiate, as it is his job.

The weather is now at the "football season" stage. Cool at night, warm (almost hot) during the day. Which brings up many happy memories of kicking leaves on the sidewalk, walking to the stadium in my OU band uniform, weeding the garden. I love this season ( Read more... )

Had a loooong weekend in San Antonio. Walked my feet off, swam some laps a couple of mornings in the hotel pool (how did I forget how to time the breathing?), saw lots of old friends and had a great time.
