2nd grade and kindergarten now... a couple teeth lost, lots of new skills, a few new anxieties.  I took Im to a playdate today.  She's gone out and made herself a whole new set of friends at school this year.  I watched happily when i came to pick her up, while the two of them bashed each other in the head with pillows for ten minutes.  Not always ( Read more... )

Tomorrow is Im's first test. We're in the throws of the school search... a crazy NY thing. Public schools that are right for Im (calm, caring) are few and not easy to get into, so we're looking at private too, hoping for financial aid. I should do a bit of writing... but photos will have to do for the moment. Suffice it to say it was a great vacation. The girls seemed happy, if a little confused about why we couldn't walk to any of the places we needed to go - they're little Manhattanites. Who'd have ever thunk it.

We had our dinner in the community garden last night. We grilled things. A neighbor brought his two year old, a little boom box and kids' songs. It was a warm night. Im and Ur danced and danced under the arbor, pulling us back in as soon as we sat down. We danced in a circle holding hands - just wild, silly, heartfelt dancing. I hope it's ( Read more... )

The girls are growing fast. Ur has really come into herself lately. I took care of both of them for most of the day today... it gets a little rough without naps. Ur screams a lot and has little tantrums when frustrated - much more so than Im ever did. And Im wants to be in control of what Ur's doing if they're interacting, which doesn't go over ( Read more... )

I haven't written anything about our trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa last week. It was only two days - Im and I, down and back on the train - but very enjoyable. Di worried it wouldn't be much fun for Im, but I think she really enjoys Grandma and Opah's attention ( Read more... )

It was a long afternoon of no naps for Di (and for the girls). I met them in the garden for pizza when I finished for the day, took the girls to get another slice and then we shuttled everyone home.
