Ur cried and cried for me tonight. She's a bit sick, and she was a little too tired, but it's so awful to not be able to console your baby. I don't think that ever happened to me with Im - ever. I've missed so much of Ur's infancy - not being able to comfort her just pushes lots of loss and inadequacy buttons. And we'd had such a nice evening ( Read more... )

If you ask Im how old she is she'll tell you (emphaticly) 'two months old!' and she'll laugh. She knows its wrong - it's become a kind of joke. We'll correct her 'No! two years old!' and she'll laugh again. For a while she was 'two and six' - which was almost right as she closed-in on two and half, but she thought that was a joke too. It was a Grandma and Grandpa weekend. Too tired at the moment for details, but there was more skating - a benefit for Figure Skating in Harlem... Im loved the little girls on the ice. The babysitter, Y, was out sick for a second day today - so I wasn't at work either for most of the day. Y is absolutely wonderful except that she tends to get sick and to run late at crucial moments... not that I would trade her services for those of anyone else.
