I have to say...discovering the connection between crustaceans and bugs got me wondering how land bugs would taste.

But I'm not quite adventurous enough to try a fried cicada or grasshopper, even if it's prepared by a gourmet chef.

I've always thought that lobster was too much work for too little reward. I did see recently though that some extensive study has determined that lobsters feel little to no pain when being boiled alive. Not quite sure I buy that one.

someone remind me to tell the story of my ex-bf's harrowing experience w/"lobster day" in chef school. it cracks me up even to think about it.

Never been big into lobster. Crab tastes better, anyway.

The insect thing is actually a benefit for me. I know it's tasty, and since they're bugs I don't feel guilty about them getting chopped up alive, tossed into boiling water, etc. I can (theoretically) enjoy it without feeling as guilty as, say, when eating bunny rabbits :-)

(My hometown grocery store used to stock rabbit in the meat section, and we'd toss some on the grill from time to time.)

Of course, my rule is I'll eat anything that's not fighting back... too hard. As long as somebody likes it, it can't be too bad.
