I got back from Belize Saturday night. Yesterday's vacation hangover was surprisingly light and quickly passed. Usually just getting out of my pajamas to shower and dress seems to take a Herculean effort. The pro-Clinton articles I've seen since the primaries have started ramping up have a noticeable formula to them. They're always pretty light on reasons to vote for Clinton. Although I'd hoped for a surprise victory, it was a good feeling to check the news first thing yesterday and learn that Sanders had only been narrowly defeated by Clinton--by less than half a percent of the votes--in Iowa. My recently formed interest in the history of the Melungeons has led me to another book, The Melungeons: The Resurrection of a Proud People: An Untold Story of Ethnic Cleansing in America. It's a fascinating read, and it adds to my wondering about the supposed "Cherokee" ancestor my family had. According to this book, many Melungeons intermarried ( Read more... )
