Ow.
I've had a stiff neck for four days now...it's driving me crazy! I've been snapping at my students all week (I made a first grader cry today...), and I have become oddly conscious of how my toes look, but am completely ignorant of the weather. I am making out like a bandit at work this week - Lunch is provided every day, we had free espresso drinks in the staff room this morning, and I won a gift certificate to Lola in a raffle this morning. I'm liking this ( Read more... ) -
Kidney Update
So, on Thursday, my left kidney was taken out and put into my mother. We're both doing pretty well. Sarah is helping us keep up a great Transplant Blog. I'm not so chatty right now, but it's been great to see the comments on the blog and see some people who have stopped by. -

School Starts
So, the first (half-)week of school has ended. I didn't kill any children, and I'm not regretting the move. I did make a 1st-grader cry on the first day of school, and I have had my share of utter incomprehension when the Spanish or Japanese teachers rattle on in their respective languages at me, and I have no idea what I'm being asked. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Finally, I managed to see the movie. We went to see it at the IMAX theater, and while it's always fun to see a movie larger-than-life, I'm not sure how much was gained by seeing this one in that format. I was dismayed at how much of the book was left out, though (as has been pointed out to me) if it had all been in there, I'd have been watching ( Read more... ) -
Inlaws & Outlaws
So, only 2 days after the fact (I process a lot. Is that normal?), here are my thoughts on the movie Inlaws & Outlaws:- Go see it. Now, if it's in your area
- Older gay couples are really cute
- Unmarried couples (straight or gay) should have documentation filed relating to their couplehood (is that a word?)
- I'm really glad I wasn't born 40 years ago.
