After realizing that Bologna only had a day's worth of excitement, we decided to travel to Venice for my birthday. We made it back to Italy, found our way to Florence, then to Bologna (which is not all it's cracked up to be), and now are in Venice. So we made it to Sicily, craziest thing ever though. Took a train from Naples, straight to Messina on the Island of Sicily, yes an Island, separated by miles of sea from mainland Italy. How, you ask? Our last day in Rome, we covered the Pantheon, Palatine Hill and the Ancient City, the Colosseum, and Piazza Novano. It was a very full day with so much to take in. We started by taking the metro to the Colosseum. When we finally got to Barcelona, we found an awesome hostel, it had free internet, we got our own private room, and it had a kitchen (saving us tons on $$$). We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the heck out of ourselves. We're currently packing and trying to keep sane. I believe we remembered everything and are finally ready to go. Now it's the countdown until our flight tomorrow evening.

Getting a little anxious, a lot bewildered, and so happy for this much needed wandering journey.
