The Presidential Debate: A tongue-in-cheek translation

Oct 01, 2004 23:49

I have taken it upon myself (no, no need to thank me) to translate last night's first presidential debate into Snark, for the education and entertainment of Livejournal minions. Oh, and yeah, I'm a Dem. My bias is pastede on, yay! Also, it's kinda long. You've been warned :)

Gotta do something with my political-ness, and J wouldn't let me yell witty comments during the debate.

Ergo, this ;)

Now I only have to do the other three...

Now I only have to do the other three...

Exactly what I was thinking! Yay! Do it!

Except, you know, if you wanted to skip the VP one, I don't think anybody would blame you.

That's the one I'm most looking forward to, actully. Figure that one has the most likelihood of someone hitting someone else with a chair. Or Edwards crying on command or something.

Should be fun. Heck, I'm over here in a political vacuum--we don't get any of the political ads and hardly any of the coverage--it's all new to me.

I'm probably the only one in the world who could say that :)

-- but you've been metaquotesed.

You know you have to do 2 more of these, don't you? Sure beats watching the actual debate-oid object.

Yay, metaquotes! I'm now part of the LJ culture of witty quotes!

I'll step away from the exclamation points, now.

Yeah, I figured that I'll probably have to do the other two. And the VP debate as well, as that should be rife with comedic moments. Or someone hitting someone else over the head with a chair, at least.

And thank you for your feedback!

Of course! It's Dick against Man-with-pretty-hair, you HAVE to do that one!

Not only are you hilarious and brilliant, but you have excellent taste in music.
I got here through metaquotes and am linking to you in my LJ.
hurrah!

by the way, did you do this from an actual transcript or while watching on TV?
thanks,
Mink

I really can't believe I've been metaquotesed. That's so cool!

And in answer to your question, I watched the debate and made notes as it was going (mostly so I wouldn't yell them at the screen) and then found a transcript to make sure I didn't miss anything major.

Thanks for leaving feeback!

That was fantastic, especially: "And only part of the reason I choose this is because listening to my opponent say 'nuclear proliferation' should be hysterical." I loved it!
