Built-in redundancy.

I've seen some useless kitchen gadgets in my life, but this one seems quite impressively crap. Am I missing the genius here?

No wonder they're selling it.

That does seem quite daft. Don't most spaghetti servers have holes in for measuring portion sizes anyway? My Ikea one does.

I'd guess most people don't have spaghetti servers.

I know that I just make a rough guess when I take the spaghetti out of the package and it's close enough (or there's left overs for tomorrow!)

Apparently just using your hands ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH! We need more plastic crap, that's much better.

I do, I admit, like move-y things. But I could just play with a tin-opener or a salt lid and be satisfied, I think.

Oh, I see the logic in that, but I kind of feel that learning to get portion sizes right is part of the normal trial & error stuff involved in learning to cook. Like creaming or rubbing in, it's a thing you need to have a go at.

I am NOT, by any means, a measure-by-eye person, I follow recipes very carefully, but damn, measuring spaghetti? Slightly overcooking = NOM LEFTOVERS.

I can second this... having come from a large family and not knowing how to cook for one person, something like that might have been useful had my mother not been so intelligent as to buy me a set of pots and pans small enough that I couldn't easily cook for more than one person. :)

Speaking of "useful" food-related items, I ran across the water-of-the-month club recently.

LOLWUT!?

OK, I sort of see where they're going with that but eeehhhhhh, their prices.

Their shipping costs must be substantial.
