Forward Yeah, I'm still alive. Dear self: work harder on this. Last time, we suddenly ended up in the middle of enemy lines the second we got out of Chrono Drive. To top it off, we have to fight with only four Emblem Frames, because Lucky Star broke down. Milfie's luck is a pain in the neck half the time, but as you may recall, the other half of the time, it makes your life a lot easier...
We're still just fighting Barmells and Spards, so this shouldn't be too hard. However, this time, instead of sitting back in the corner, the Elsior needs to move. The object of this mission is to pass through the thin space between those two planetoids to get into an empty space where we can go back into Chrono Drive. Tact asks why we can't just take another route. I agree with him. The one annoying thing about this battle system is that it assumes that space is two-dimensional.
Fun fact: Chrono Drive can't be used around matter or gravity fields.
It's this or go back to Criom, which is probably just going to be full of enemies too. Coco analyzes the enemies, and Lester muses that the enemy AI doesn't seem to have all the problems worked out yet. Almo assures us that simulator data says that one Emblem Frame is a match for two cruisers, so we should be just fine. Besides, Tact jokes, we can always quickly surrender if we get overwhelmed. (Forte chews him out for that one.) New mission objective: eliminate every enemy on the map.
I start by sending the Elsior off to the side. That way, it's moving, but it's moving out of the way. Each Emblem Frame goes to fight one of the four ships on this side of the corridor. The original plan had the Elsior sitting in one place while the Angels ganged up on the first two enemies and then spread out to handle the rest, but I never actually follow the plan the game gives us.
Mint finishes off her enemy pretty quickly and I send her out through the corridor to start the offensive against the ships out there. Ethical considerations of military application of psychic powers aside, those Fliers she has are pretty useful. Ranpha finishes her enemy off just as the Elsior comes under fire, and I send her back to guard it. She's on the other side of this section, but she gets there in no time. I love Kung Fu Fighter's speed.
Vanilla gets a few kills in, but mostly I just have her flying around and healing everyone. Trick Master and Happy Trigger get pretty low on HP halfway through the fight, and Kung Fu Fighter gets badly damaged just before I have Vanilla fire off a Repair Wave. I love medics. At least Vanilla can fight, unlike the only other source of repairs we have, the Elsior.
This is the downside of Happy Trigger. Kills everything in its path... when the others haven't gotten to it first. It's the consequence of having low speed.
That was pretty easy. In fact, nothing even came in out of nowhere in the middle of the battle and tried to blow us up! How convenient. I wonder if...
Never mind.
