First of all, our Good Friday cantata went amazingly well. Our substitute organist was not a big asset, and there were a few slips here and there. But everybody said we sounded beautiful -- especially our a capella rendition of Were You There? --  and that the service was very moving. The Good Friday service is probably my favorite of the year.

 I just posted this as a response to somebody else's entry. But I feel so strongly about it
that I feel like repeating it here as a personal life philosophy:

GETTING EVEN IS NEVER A GOOD REASON FOR DOING ANYTHING.

Even my plays reflect this.

So more and more friends are putting their photos on Facebook, and I can't see them.

And now, I get an e-mail from my best friend from high school specifically asking me why I'm not on Facebook.

Facebook was my line in the sand. But I feel the sand shifting under my feet.

Hold my hand, somebody. I'm scared.

ididjonassalk  is in the top freaking ten?

Okay, he's beaten my peak ranking and is closing in on my peak rating. (And it was a lot 'easier' to get to the 1900s the two times I paid my brief visits there.)

I don't know whether to spit or hand out cigars.

(Actually, I do know. Two guesses.)

 Somebody on another board came up with a plausible explanation!

Water. The bottom of the toothpick box got wet. Somebody was playing around with it and stuck the box onto the wall. If everything was just perfect it would stick as the soft and wet box bottom would mold itself to the slightly raised surface of the plaster wall. When it dried, it ( Read more... )

I was in the church kitchen yesterday morning, where they were cleaning up after the Palm Sunday pancake breakfast. I noticed what seemed to be an odd thing. Every Palm Sunday, when our choir does Ride On, King Jesus ... we forget that white people can't sing gospel.

(Okay, well this one does depend heavily on one particularly powerful tenor, but we did a gospel medley a few weeks back that was also pretty darn good!)

First of all, congratulations to ididjonassalk  for yet another spectacular performance!  I'm so proud. I said to a few people this weekend, "I taught him everything I knew, and then he went ahead and started learning everything I didn't know."
