trailer
I am super excited, it looks like we will be getting a camping trailer. It needs a lot of work but it costs much less than renting one for 5 days. I have really wanted to fix up a trailer. Yay! -
Ian's Ears
Ian had his ears turned on this Monday. It was trauma and drama free. It was exciting because he could clearly hear which means the implant was successful. But mostly it was like any other morning. He had some hearing before but not in the range human speech. Around the house he is responding to sound today. His sounds are not different but ( Read more... ) -
The good news, as we have it.
I often forget to talk about the good news after a crisis-like situation has past, so here it goes. Ian is now almost completely back to normal in his walking. He is definitely at full strength and climbing ability. The doctor says his facial paralysis temporary after running some tests on the nerves. Recovery
Ian is improving. He still can't sit up by himself but he seems to be feeling better. He really hates taking his medicine which he has to do 8-10 times a day. He is signing today, which he wasn't doing at all yesterday. The doctor is not worried about the facial paralysis which still comes and goes. Poor little guy. Update
The bad news: Ian's recovery is going to be much slower than we thought. Yesterday all he could do was lie in bed. He will occasionally try to get up but doesn't have the balance. The was some loss of spinal cord fluid that is at least partly responsible for his balance being off. He is taking codine and it very obvious when it wears off. He ( Read more... ) -
Out of Surgery
Ian is out of surgery. Everthing went well. We should get to see him any minute. -
One ear down
Around 10:00am they let us know the first ear was done. That means we are looking at a 11:30am finish at the soonest. But everthing is going well. -
In surgery
Ian is in surgery. I have a mix of emotions, right now I am excited. Glad we are getting this done finally. April 2 he will get the equipment turned on and he will really hear for the first time. This process has definately helped me grow.
