well according to this story winamp is dead (just realized that aol is like the anti-microsoft, they buy up good software companies (nullsoft, netscape) and then kill them off).

used to use winamp when I had a wintel box. it had a small footprint, and it was easier to use than any other player out at that time (pre-iTunes for Win days, yes it was a dark time).

once iTunes for Windows came along though (having already used it on a mac) I switched over to it. It used up more processor power, but had a much better interface, easier playlist creation, smart playlists (my god, why doesn't every music player have those? it's such a simple brilliant idea), and organized my music collection (yes I'm the one person that likes that feature).

got a somewhat related question for you: have you loaded the latest Quicktime (6.5.2 I think) and if so does iTunes lock up your machine?

I hated iTunes organization at first, now I can't live without it. :-)
Yeah, I do have the new QT installed, but have experienced no problems. Have you repaired permissions lately?

I've never had any issues with Winamp AT ALL. And it wouldn't matter if I had: I'm running Windows 98 (not even SE), so iTunes no workee for me anyway.
