Three months, today, and yet that time feels so distant and too long ago. I'm starting to forget...the dates and sequence of the cancer's progression. It wasn't until I looked up at around 7:25 p.m. and saw the moon, bright and altogether too clear, that I was reminded of the harvest moon and how my father died then. -

I sit here at Baked and Wired trying to picture what my dad would look like if he were seating across from me; I am also attempting to read 1Q84 again, when I hear part of the conversation from the ladies seated next to me talk about Seattle and this in turn brings back memories of my own trip there. There are other, more productive, things I could be doing but I need to decompress a little right now so I've made my way to Baked and Wired. It's the first time returning here after my father's death. I can picture him in any number of seats sipping on a latte and eating something like he did so many Sunday's in our weekend routine ( Read more... ) -

It's strange the things we hold onto. For a while my sister and I smelled things because they still held my dad's scent. Now I've gone through my deleted voicemails and undeleted the bulk of the ones my dad left me. My mom listened to one and said it felt like my dad was still here ( Read more... ) -

Yesterday I gave my uncles some of my dad's clothes. I was upset with my uncle from Portland, because his initial reaction was to say that we should throw all my dad's clothes away, but then back tracked and said he made no such comment once he took a liking to them.
