I've spent the morning looking at rentals. Here's a little observation: I could buy a place, and pay a morgage for much less than the asking rent on most places around here. There's something profoundly wrong about this.
Oh, for those of you who don't know, my cellphone battery died. It only works while plugged into the wall. Just an FYI. -

I'm having a hard time finding places in Squarebanks. My goal was to move out of this shack about... well, a year and 6 months ago. But more recently, I'm trying to find a place before winter sets in. Once winter's here, you're really locked in place, since moving in the winter kinda sucks ( Read more... ) -

I fled Thursday afternoon, with the smoke so thick you couldn't see more than 100m or so. Took the half of the day off as a sick day. Drove down to the copper river, and spent the next couple of days dipnetting. But the river was really high, and catch was low. Ended up helping someone move a fishwheel. While I'm waiting for office to install on my lab's mac, I figured I'd say "Oh, hey. I'm alive." Running low on moose at home, but I'll get my fish in RSN. Other than that, things are pretty okay. Unintentional hillarity.
I'm putting the finishing touches on pulled venison (with some moose filler) for my now ex-grad student's potluck. It's tasty, and the last thing I need to do this week before I can zone. I've got a few minutes, so I looked at movie reviews. You know, for the holiday weekend. I found this gem:
