i'm so sorry about whizzy, george. i have had beloved cats too. it's so hard to lose them.

that's an astounding poem. somehow i've never read any of crane's poems and am shaken by the images in this (the grail of laughter in the moonlight, the kitten in the wilderness). i'm maybe a sentimentalist, but i do think the heart lives on.

I'm so, so sorry. Losing a pet is so heartbreaking because we're never ambivalent about them the way we often are with our human allies. That poem is exquisite.

I'm sorry about the loss of your cat...you're the third person I know to have lost one within the span of only a few days...it's a loss I can't even comprehend or imagine, and wish I never had to experience...

I'd say! I have an 8-year-old who's been diagnosed with congenital kidney failure. December 20th will mark the one-year anniversary of the vet saying "I can't believe he's not dead already" and trying to talk me into putting him to sleep. He's still alive and kicking, though, knock wood.

This is a sad day for the feline community: I just read a bulletin board posting about how one of my favorite Petsters is going to be put down at 5:30 today. :(

Man, that same thing happened with my cat. He had kidney problems, they gave him a couple weeks, maybe a month. They said to keep him comfortable we should give him the drip. He lived for three more years. Good luck with your little guy.

Let's hang out sometime, man, you can play me some music I've never heard.
