Something kind of scary; as of next thursday I'm going to be the most senior linux system administrator in the computer services division at the US Census Bureau. We do have a couple linux engineers, so I do have people to go to when I can't figure things out, but for sys admin tasks I'll be the best one there.
So, if someone said to you "I'm holding you personally responsible for any craziness that happens tomorrow." Would you take that to mean that you're to blame if anything goes bad, or would you take it (the way I did) that it's your responsibility to ensure that craziness occurs?
so I get in to work today, and people start congratulating me. I ask them why, and they tell me that I'm the employee of the month. oh yeah

So, I decided it was finally time to grow up and move out of my parent's house. Well, at least the moving out part, we'll see how the growing up thing goes. On Sunday I began the moving process into my very own apartment

An email thread between my companies VP and CEO wound up getting cc'ed to me to inform me that they'll be buying me some network engineering training material. They didn't bother to remove the content from the previous messages between the 2 of them, so I was able to hear this from our VP
