Schwartzy died today and I was with him. He went peacefully and felt no pain. The compassionate vet, who had saved his life in February, was the one to help him to go Home. What a cutie! I like guinea pigs, even though I've never had one as a pet or even in the classroom. We have always had gerbils, not nearly so interesting but they make a good classroom pet. But they had some over in the Extended Day (aka Day Care) room a few years ago, and when I would take the afternoon kids over to play in their big room, I would put a towel on my lap and sit with one of the babies. That's when I learned how they squeak, and purr, and snuggle, and burrow, and how insanely cute they can be!!
My heart goes out to you tonight. It is SO hard to lose our furbabies.
