When Santana called Blaine's bowties hideous, he stopped wearing them.
It wasn't a conscious decision on his part. He's been conforming for so long that it's like a reflex for him now. Santana hates his bowties, his bowties disappear. Kurt wants him to come to McKinley, he transfers just like that. Finn tells him to sit down and shut up, and that's exactly what happens.
Everything people say to him, he takes to heart. He can't help it. At a young age, he realized that it's much easier to change himself than it is to try and change the people around him. So that's what he does. When people insult him, as long as it's something he can change, he will. That's why he started (and refuses to stop) gelling his hair. His father doesn't like his curls.
There's nothing wrong with that... is there?
Bonus Points - Someone, not necessarily Kurt, realizes that Blaine reflexively conforms to whatever people tell him, and tries to help him realize how very, very fucked up that is.
Can it be Puck or Mike? Ever since Hot For Teacher i.e. the only time Blaine has actually fit in with the New Directions seamlessly, I've wanted a friendship between at least two of them!
I ship Mike/Blaine friendship like you wouldn't believe. It'd make sense, too, since Mike has also struggled with auto-conforming and is just recently finding the strength to break away from that.

This is not 100% prompt-conform: Blaine doesn't realize what he's doing here. And he's integrated it into his personality to such a degree that it gives him satisfaction to fulfill others needs and demands. He enjoys it, it's natural and he has great rationalizations why it always makes sense for him to conform. Basically: he's submissive, and not just for fun in bed. That said - there's no sex. I suppose it's PG: adult concepts and lifestyles discussed. --- Malleable

Puck narrowed his eyes. Second day without a bow tie in residence. Did the kid know what he did? He wasn't sure. He'd give him another day, wait and observe some more, before taking action.
Third day. And no, he was pretty sure Blaine had no fucking idea what that was about, despite being the one doing it. Time to

"Sit down there for a moment, Blaine." He gestured in front of himself. There wasn't a chair but he could just sit on the ground, it wasn't really dirty or had anything gross on it. He sat cross-legged, feeling the floor against his naked ankles. When he'd situated himself he looked up at Puck. Who watched him, intent. This was quickly becoming a theme and he still didn't know what he had done - or was supposed to do. Puck just stared.
"Puck? No offense, but you're acting a bit weird. Is everything okay? Can I do something?"
"Yeah. You can. I want you to listen. Closely. When I'm done you'll ask your questions or say what you think." He didn't give Blaine time to do more than nod before continuing. "You transferred from Dalton because Kurt wanted you here with him

"You're doing what people tell you. You do it without even noticing that you comply with other people's wishes - even if they clash with your own. You're doing it especially for people who are important to you. But you also bend for a rude and unapologetic bitch like Santana - she's my girl, but let's be real here - who has done nothing but mock and belittle you and your boy. Or for a boy who is jealous and feels insecure about you taking over 'his' place. Or for me, who hasn't really done anything for you, is just a neutral glee-mate. You probably have rationalizations for all of this, reasons why it's simply the best thing to do as people want

Hi, thanks! I'll put the whole thing (there might be a sequel in the works, but that would probably cross meme's to the less PG one... And would need to written ^_^) up so just read on.
That's actually a little more in line with what I was thinking when I wrote the prompt. I almost deleted and reposted it to make it more explicit that it wasn't necessarily conscious on Blaine's part.
I love the way you've portrayed this. How submitting is almost like a high for Blaine. Very interesting.
Wow, thanks, it's great to hear. It was a bit worried actually about going into a direction that your prompt seemed to avoid. I nearly didn't post it. But then thought I should let people decide it it fit enough or not and just tack a disclaimer on to warn properly.
Blaine is in subspace right there. And it's more intense and, later on terrifying, becasue he never felt like this, hasn't ever experienced anything even close to it.
Oh, that's cool! Love to hear it. He's my favorite and his voice comes easy to me. The great thing with Puck is that you can go in so many directions and moods with him while still keeping him distinctive, without getting OOC. As much as we bitch about the Glee writers... that's thanks to them.
Or maybe I just start to mix the voices all up... I hope not. I've been writing three prompts simultaneously, with three different POVs AND this is my first foray into Glee fic on top. So I'm still figuring things out and am glad for any feedback. Thank you again!
I'm kinda terrified of getting comments on one of others, actually: I was insane enough to start out with one of the apparently most controverse prompts here on the meme. But it wouldn't leave me alone. I go back and forth between wanting no one to comment in fear of getting in the middle of a new comment war, and wanting comments to get constructive critism to see how I do with a totally different character and theme.
