One of the good things about Japan for gaijin (foreigners)  is that most restaurants have either an english menu (which, invariably, is just as difficult to decipher as the Japanese) or a wax food display out front meaning you can just point at what you want to eat and make condescending eating gestures.  Or at least that's how I managed to get fed ( Read more... )

After arriving at Narita Airport and catching the express train to Tokyo we thought we'd be clever and catch the train to the nearest station, Meguro, and walk to our hotel.  Nearly 45 minutes later we arrived at the hotel, malodorous from stewing in our clothes for over 24 hours and desperate for something edible and drinkable, things which Qantas ( Read more... )

Yes, the bastards at Bank Wank have deemed me to be a threat to the health of the office and have sentenced me to 72 hours in "quarantine", or "arsing about at home/shops" .
