Blarg (is what it felt like at first)

Jammed through the changes of the Baron's epic masterpiece, “Sir Robert the Brave” (co-written by a Mr. Marder), as well as on a Dead tune, a song of mine, and some basic chord progressions. I feel like I'm getting better at playing and understanding what's going on within a song/chord progression/rhythm/ etc. It's like intuition or something - you ( Read more... )

dont we all.

im totally happy for you. you seem to be reaching the musician's zen. i hear it's a comfy place.

Stuart and Dustin and I were thinking of recording some stuff. it'll prolly never get off the ground, though. im never going to be a musician and i know this but a goal of mine before i die is to atleast be a part of creating one piece of music. i mean, i jammed a little with Modinha but that doesnt count for me since the vocal shit i did wasnt recorded and you could hardly call what i did with the instruments "playing" since i dont really know how to play anything. and i've recorded when i was in choir but i wanna be a part of something original.

this is really like the lamest thing ever. i love music because i was born loving it and i hate it because i wasn't meant to be a part of it. i cant play or write and i want to badly but not badly enough to actually persue it.

dude im not 15 anymore. and even if i was, i never wanted to play punk guitar in the first place. most punk guitarists were fucking pussies. Only East Bay Ray really stands out to me as a musician. he was cool. i always wanted to play dirty blues and chunky metal. but i just dont have the fingers for it. if im ever going to get anywhere (which im pretty sure i wont), i think my only hope would be lessons. i had a book and i couldnt learn shit from it. my ear is exceptional but my coordination and rhythm are appauling.

Okay. So your rhythm will suck. At first. And all I meant is that "punk" can easily be played (along with the blues) if you know only a few chords (three chords, i.e. fairly little knowledge). I suggested it as a good starting point. Learn old Ramones songs - the have a pretty bluesy basis. And if you can sing a part, you can probably play it.

I usually am surprised to be in the dream. I realize I'm in a dream when I notice myself noticing how vivid everything is. I've been having some really vivid dreams lately.

Music is everywhere
