I wish to pick the brains of the teachers, and those who have taught in their capacity as grad students. What did/do you like about it? What did/do you hate about it? How do you feel at the end of the day?
Likes: planning lessons, especially when I am able to plan enough ahead to be really creative. Interacting with students and working with them one-on-one or, even better, in small groups (like, say, 3-6... hmm... wonder if there's another hobby I have that involves groups of that size...). Doing interesting math problems. Learning things from my students. Letting them take turns teaching. Having kids be creative in other ways. Using technology in the classroom (I know that sounds kind of buzz-word-y, but it's really cool actually when it works).
Hates: anything involving testing, many things involving grading. Dealing with parents and administrators. Trying to amend behavior, though in some contexts that can be OK.
Was out of town this weekend. Next time maybe! I am busy on many consecutive weekends, but this should happen at least at some point during the summer!
