Trying to make people laugh...
...AKA getting back on the comedy horse
I love doing stand-up comedy. It's the most fun you can have fully-clothed and standing on a stage in front of a crowd of slightly drunk people. But the whole "trying to kickstart a career in comedy" takes so much time and effort and brazen self-publicity that at times I wonder why I do it at all.

Eccentric clothing
I'm sorting out my wardrobe(s) today and have discovered (among other things):
- a mustard yellow leather trenchcoat that I bought at a second-hand shop in Grimsby about five years ago and have never worn (it's ecccentrically stylish in an "auditioning to be the first female Doctor" kind of way)

Counting blessings
As we near winter solstice, it was a privilege to be up and out early, in the pinky-grey morning, even if it was only to take my car into the VW garage to have the heating fixed. Christmas party
I had a fun night on Wednesday. The postgrad students I teach at a local college invited me out with them for their Christmas meal. We went to a Thai restaurant very near my flat, and it was a great night. You know that feeling, when you've almost finished your Christmas shopping and you post all your foreign cards and presents a day before the last posting date? Well, that's how I'm feeling now. Nearly Christmas
Well, I'm finally feeling just a leetle Christmassy after taking my mum and my great-aunt to our lovely local theatre for the annual Salvation Army carol concert. There was even a really crap nativity scene with recalcitrant donkeys, and kings who refused to give their presents to the baby Jesus.
