So the little princess really likes going on bike rides. Of course, one of the main reasons is she likes going to the P-A-R-K -- but don't say it aloud or you'll be taking her! Well, it's two days later and I'm sore but uninjured. I'd say this year's race was a mild success. I was really hoping to get close to 2:15 but ended up at 2:27:45 - only about 2 minutes faster than last year. I take some solace in that I took 3 weeks off running very late in the training (which was a large setback) and still finished better ( Read more... )

Well, this week I ran 16 miles.  Been taking my new GPS watch for a spin.  I'm liking it far more than expected.  It gives my by distance, speed,  breaks down my runs by mile - so I can see how my pace is varying, it lets me not worry about choosing a route before I got out, just pick a direction and run until I hit 1/2 my target mileage!  ( Read more... )

Well, 1/2 marathon training started this morning at 6:30am in the fresh snow.  Below is my training program.  It's a slightly modified Hal Higdon Intermediate 1/2 marathon training program.  I'm not sure how I'm going to do Tuesday's yet, but I think everything else will work nicely.

Yesterday I had to go pickup my pickup at the mechanic's shop after my $1000 oil change (well, turned into a synthetic oil change, 4 new tires, mounting, balancing, alignment, a couple of tie rods, and a partridge in a pear tree).  I could have gotten a ride over there - but the shop was about 6 miles from my house, I needed to do a long run ( Read more... )
