One little-known writer that may interest you is Yvonne Mitchell, a former actress/writer who produced a number of novels in her lifetime. I find her observational style quite insightful and inspirational, whilst her novels themselves tend to be whimsical yet also captivating. Of particular merit are But Answer Cames There None and God Is Inexperienced. You should be able to pick up copies of most of her work up from Amazon zShops or abebooks.com.
