So, I went to vote today.  I arrived at my designated polling place and gave my name.  The woman doling out the paper ballots noticed my address and talked excitedly about how she is my neighbor.  After I voted, and this took no more than five minutes, I made my way back to the polling table to formally introduce myself to my neighbor.  "What?" she ( Read more... )

Now, I take great care to follow the proper obsessive compulsive behavior when I eat a fortune cookie.  I break the cookie in half, fold the fortune into my left hand until after I have consumed the entire cookie.  I do this to ensure a good fortune.  Superstitious?  Maybe...but I am often very satisfied with my fortune.  So tell me, what do I do ( Read more... )

If you haven't already, I highly recommend seeing Bee Season, an adaptation of one of my favorite books of all time. The filmmakers did a great job adapting the book for the screen. Richard Gere is in it, but don't let that discourage you. He does a fine job with this film. The rest of the cast is equally superb. ...and for godsake, if you see ( Read more... )
