Had a pretty damn good Otakon, with a minimum of drama/stress. I had Morgan and four of her teenage friends to look after but they were fine. Which meant more opportunity for me to enjoy the con on my own and spend time with all you folks (but no atomx :\).

Just wanted folks to know that I'm still alive and well. Looking forward to seeing folks at Otakon next week.

I've been a bit out of commission anime wise this year, as I have gone back to (grad) school while still holding down my full time job. Plus kids etc. Yes I am insane.

Well that was fun. Morgan certainly had a good time, she said something like 'It was so awesome I can't believe it was real'. Amy Lee was in a VERY up mood given that The Open Door debuted at #1 in the US, Japan, Germany, etc. A lot of the rest of the band seemed... detached?

Went on a manga foray at Borders on Friday w/ Morgan. She bought a fair amount of yaoi/shounen-ai, pretty much anything w/out an 18+ sticker on it. Here and there I see that more of the alternative / Garo or gekiga substreams are getting published, which is exciting to see. Just got through Making Comics, the new book by Scott McCloud. As usual with him it was thought provoking stuff, and fun at the same time. It's primarily aimed at potential comics creators (and includes discussions of manga) but I found some analogies to other forms of creation including amvs ( Read more... )

Well that was quite a weekend. Strange to be back at work again, I was sick just before the con so I have some catching up to do.
