People with cats, help!

I can't find this information on google for the life of me. I'm looking to get a new scratching post and there's one I like but it's all carpet - my scratching posts have always had a corded component, which seems to be where the cats like to scratch best. So - does it matter or no if the scratching post is all carpet?#most-uninteresting-question-

Depends on the cat. :) I have a carpeted scratching post. Midnight used it occasionally, especially if we sprinkled catnip on it. Peanut doesn't use it at all, and doesn't seem the least interested in catnip, either. Cats I've had in the past liked a carpeted one, though, so... *shrugs*

Midnight loved to scratch a corrugated cardboard scratching box that we'd buy in the stores. Peanut's beginning to like scratching it, but not to the extent that Midnight did. So, again, it all depends on the cat.

Not very helpful, I know. :)

MeiMei has liked cardboard when we had it around, but it's really messy, which is why I like corded posts... hm. Sounds like all carpet might be too much of a bet.

Lucifer used to love the cardboard scratching box. Then we found them a corded scratching post and rejoiced at the thought of no longer having cardboard all over.

They never use it.

Bastards.

Weird! MeiMei used to have a cardboard thing she really liked, but then we found two corded ones that worked well for her with her condition, and she totally got used to them. And Cranly's always loved them, too, which is great because I really would hate either of them scratching up our stuff...

Your cats ARE bastards. ;)

You should see the state of our club armchairs. There's black tape all over them where the cats have scratched them most. And they keep ignoring the pole. Bastardsbastardsbastards. But cute bastards.

Mine like both corded and cardboard equally, I haven't tried carpeted. What they like best though, is the side of the couch. Because they're evil :p.
