Drywall!
In a huge act of wonderfulness, gwendolyngrace has helped me load and carry in a half dozen sheets of drywall for the dining room. Carrying in sheets of drywall is one of those tasks I hate to do alone, because I always end up smashing stuff. Thank you, Gwen! -
The Little Spaceship That Could
I've been following the adventures of Hayabusa, the little Japanese ion-engine asteroid probe. It's had all sorts of troubles, including breaking down in deep space and losing touch with home more than once. Cutting Wheels
I'm sure most of you know this already, but you can cut through a big piece of steel angle iron really easily using an abrasive cutting wheel in a circular saw. I'm reinforcing something, and five feet of angle iron is just the thing, so I got to play with a cutting wheel today. It always makes me feel full of testosterone. Need a pruning hook; all I have is spears.
I'm back from a really pleasant and relaxing week hanging around in San Francisco. Today's little engineering problem: my neighbor has asked me to prune off a couple of small tree branches overhanging her driveway. I can do it with a ladder and a saw, but if I had a saw on a stick I could minimize the odds of killing myself in the process. Does ( Read more... ) -
Tearing down the walls
Well, I'm renovating again. I've begun work on the dining room, at long last. This past week I've been burning leftover paid time off, and I haven't made as much progress as I'd hoped (or fantasized), but the project is definitely begun. I'm pretty psyched about it ( Read more... ) -

I know it's Mother's Day, but gwendolyngrace will still be in town following Crown Tourney on Saturday. If anyone would like to just visit for a while, maybe have lunch/dinner and watch the hockey game, we'd love to hear from you. -

Pending doom...
My power cord has died. In an hour, my laptop will be out of juice. It will be... crippling. All my network friends, pray that I stay sane until tomorrow!
