I am opinionated. I make no bones about it. While I am opinionated, I also have an open mind and will discuss opposing viewpoints. College professors, in my experience, are either the most or the least open minded people I have ever met. One class into the semester and I am already frustrated. I understand the need for an attendance policy. I ( Read more... )

Yeah, this prof sounds like a chump. Sorry to read of the early disappointment this semester.

What an asshole. Hopefully you can just get through it and not have to deal with this guy again.

While I understand your frustration, I've got to put in two cents for the teacher's side. If he gives you the quiz early, he's just voided the security of his test (you could tell everyone what's on it before the next class), while if he gives you a more difficult or different quiz either before or after, it means he has to write that quiz. I don't know what kind of quiz he's giving you, but writing tests, coming up with good questions, takes a lot more time than you might think. Plus, of course, once he's made this exception for you, he'll have everyone else in the class coming to ask him to do something similar for them. Trust me--I've been through that and the end result ain't pretty.

What can I say--I'm a total hardass about make up tests. But it's that or completely lose my sanity =).

I do understand that, but he is unwilling to work with me in any capacity. I offered to do something in place of a quiz. I just want an opportunity to earn those points back. You would think with a month's notice something could be figured out. I offered to do a summary of what I would be missing. Double the previous or following quiz. etc. anything.
