Yesterday I dragged out a little booklet/sketching kit that I got WAY back when I was in college, at the university bookstore...a nifty little dealio called the "Disney Animation Kit Workbook"-- it has a booklet on the history & basics of animation, a couple of pencils, a peg bar, flipbooks, transparancies, paper, a zoetrope, and a snippet of film ( Read more... ) -
Did we need more proof of Gary's splendiferousness?
Gary has started teaching me rudimentary robotics via Mindstorm. The man's patience overwhelms me. Even more than that, though, I've been amazed at my (thus far) intuitive understanding of the basic programming algorithms. The subject line says it all...I've only seen it twice so far, and I absolutely adore it! It ranks right up there with Ratatouille as my favorite Pixar movie. WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!! (a far happier post than the last)
Yes, the Mouse is calling me home again... :) We've got our room & flight booked, so it's as official as it's going to get-- all of my trips to the World as an adult, I've been careful to remember that We're Adults Now, and things happen that can change our plans, so until I'm actually standing at the TTC, I'm trying to be reserved ( Read more... ) -
Gallop Out
I was struck, as soon as they showed Eight Belles during the Derby prelim yesterday, by how much she reminded me of Ruffian. I found it actually a little chilling, and not in a good way. And then, of course, there was the gallop-out.
I expect the same outcry over her death as there is for other racehorses, and I'm all for that. All dirt tracks ( Read more... ) -

Tonight Gary bought the remastered versions of Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming for me. Listening to them again, crisp as my memory of them from more than two decades ago, is a flat-out religious experience. All I can say is:

Wow!
Earthquake!
I'm in the St. Louis area, but we just got the edges of an earthquake based in Indiana. We're all okay, but it's pretty freaky. I wonder if it had anything to do with the two raccoons screaming at each other a bit earlier tonight. This morning. Whatever. Just glad it's quiet now!
