I feel old...

Nov 29, 2008 19:38

I'm currently reading the newest Star Wars novel Millennium Falcon.

Now, granted I did skip a lot of the previous books although I did sit down and read the final few chapters of the book prior to it so I have an idea of who's doing what and where and who's no longer with us.

However...

cut for a spoiler for the recent books )

And I'm dreading the day they die of old age in the books because I feel like a small part of me will have died. I feel like they should remain immortal, you know. They're fictional characters. They should just go on and on forever.

I agree. I've been in love with Han Solo since I was 5. I think that if/when they kill off Han and Leia, that's the moment I stop reading. And start the series over. :)

It's amazing to watch everything they've been through with each other. Despite what their kids and other family members do, they're still each other's soul.

No matter how they die in canon, I don't think material about them will really stop being published. Even now we're seeing New Republic-era literature (Shadows of Mindor, Tatooine Ghost, a few 2010 titles) being very popular/anticipated despite the "current" timeline we're in. It'd be cool if the Big Three were like comic book characters who never died, but we have to take what we can. :P

they were both almost always on separate mission trips instead of together. It was almost like watching a TV show from the 50's where the married couple sleeps in separate beds.Whilst it's certainly true that Han and Leia spend much of the first half of the NJO apart, but ever since "Balance Point" was published, they've barely left each other's side. In the latest Legacy of the Force books, they're a double act through and through, and it's one of the few things I like about the series - where there's Han, there's Leia. They're such a great team, and it's awesome ( ... )

IMO, considering what the 'pro' books have done to their characters already, killing them off would be a show of mercy.

Joins Sue in that sentiment.

I cannot stand the profic. It's far worse than the crappiest of marysue fanfic ever will be. Sure, our fandom has contracted, but there are scores of really good Han and Leia fanfic that is head and shoulders above it.

I'm getting a kick out of the grandparent adventure.
