I only have one real costume: the 1920s flapper outfit that I created for Mohamed's speakeasy party a few years ago and wore again to the costume birthday party the summer-before-last. If you have access to army fatigues you can put on an id badge that says "Private Joke." You will be warm and clever.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion: I also have a tarot card book I could carry around with me if I went with this one.

Thank you! As I was choosing an icon for this post I thought, "I wish I could dress up like Xanadu..." There were so many outrageous costume changes in that movie...

Any kind of dress-up is cool. Originally, people dressed in fancy dress, like lords and ladies, to celebrate the holiday. At some point the repertoire expanded to silly costumes and more recently, dressing as characters. So, I think that any kind of dressing up that is fun for you contributes to the party fun. I'm planning on wearing one of the Indian choli and skirts sets that I used to dance in, possibly with a silly little sombrero fascinator that I made. I think Kristi and Suzy are wearing Renaissance garb. I am REALLY looking forward to irena_seraphina's costume.
