I was just reading what we had put on our last post and we have a lot of catching up to do. Our current location is guilin which is south center china. The town is surrounded by limestone mountains which is nice because without them the town would be really ugly. so from shanghai kevin and i jumped a train to Hanghzou. it is a beautiful city with a famous lake - West Lake. there are countless parks with pagodas, and a few ponds with thousands of red carp fish. there are a few islands that you can boat to that was originally used as gardens for an emporer. we also visited the tea museum and ordered some ( Read more... )

Happy New Year! We are sitting in a hostel in shanghai right now and it's really cold. Maybe not canada cold, but when you get used to 20+ weather it sucks to jump right into -1. We found one day full of sun and fun. We are on the west coast of Thailand on the island of Koh Lanta. Our experience here has been the best so far in Thailand. Not only did we get a really nice hotel room, but we also got it for a great price of 500 baht. We got Air con, hot water and a nice big comfy bed with a real comforter on it. Okay this is going to be another long one and without pictures(sorry! forgot the usb cord!). So if memory serves me right we left off in Hue. It was boring and blah blah blah. kevin and i just realised that we only have 7 days left on our vietnam visa, so now we are bookin' it to hanoi tonight. we still want to check out hanoi and halong bay before we leave.

nha trang was very relaxing. we did go on one of those boat tours, joel, and it was great. for $6 each we had a full day tour of four islands where we snorkelled, had a huge seafood lunch, a swim-up bar with free mulberry wine, and a live karaoke band and dancing. the drumset was so rusty and shitty, that it looked like you needed a tetnus shot ( Read more... )
