It would be a good excuse to come and visit you. :D Never done the West coast see. *justifies expense* Also gives you the excuse to sing any Village People song.
Who needs an excuse for the Village People? Oh wait, the village people need an excuse for the village people ... Actually I saw an ace film once about them called "Can't Stop the Music," which was the campiest film (even beating Priscilla) that I've ever seen. It was marvelous. I've never been to the west coast either. But I'm planning to visit in March...
... to make one more big moving disaster before i decide that my dreams are just that and settle down to some responsible job, some responsible husband, some responsible mortgage, some responsible kids, some responsible retirement, some regretful death. basically. I mean, obviously, I'm going to visit before I make my mind up but I liken it to the gold prospectors of the 19th century ... I'll probably be worse off than when I started in a barbaric land far from home but maybe, just maybe, I'll find my fortune.
My girlfriend is a California native. O.C., even! She'd never lived outside the state for any great length of time till just recently. She sure is digging the lack of traffic, pollution and conceited people here on the east coast. Hey yo, I admire your gumption and willingness to travel, but you might want to do just that -- travel (extensively) -- before you move there. There are so many fun places to live, I say!

Newport Beach, the beach itself, is very pretty. The TOWN, on the other hand, man, who would bother? That's where Dennis Rodman lives and hosts his big, famous, shallow parties. The whole scene seems so ugly, H, there's just so much gunk under the glitter. Do you do a lot of coke? Because people in Newport Beach do a lot of coke.
that coke habit I don't haveheathersglitterAugust 24 2005, 19:39:13 UTC
apparently it'll be easy to start a coke habit as soon as I transport myself to any zip code beginning with a 9. then apparently if i transport myself to dallas, i could pick up a coke habit pretty easily, as well. i should mention i'm not so into the celebrities and also bullshit. i'm trying to be extremely practical in the face of this wholly impractical decision.
I'd miss you! Not that I've seen you (or anyone else) in at least a month. Just promise not to go all Hollywood on us. Haha. But I understand how it might present many opportunities for you.
I can't imagine going all Hollywood on anyone. But maybe ... no. Hey, do you have ACL plans? I'm trying to work something up and it's driving me batty. But me, Rian and Patricia are definitely going to be in Austin that Friday, Saturday and Sunday ... whether we're going to get tickets is still undecided. I heart vacationing with you! Lemme know!
I'll be in Kansas that weekend for my mom's 50th high school reunion/family time. I like vacationing with you, too, but after the last two ACLs, I vowed never to go back to Austin during SXSW or ACL unless I was getting paid lots and lots to be there. I do want to go to Austin for a non-festival trip sometime, though, to see it without the insane traffic and the insanely jacked up parking and dining and drinking and hotel prices.
Tell me about the hotel prices. We're about to be sleeping in the car. And all so Patricia can see Built to Spill. Sigh. If it gets moved, I'll let you know. Right now, it's a nightmare ... for those like me who overplan ... You know.
