a few of my friend's friends (I make this distinction because I don't like them) are familiar with Saikano, but I'm not. Can you explain what the basic plot of this is? I'm wondering if there's anything else similar between that and SEL, because that picture really does look like Lain.
Cool. I'll check out the manga at Borders (I love the people there. They just let me read as much manga as I want, so long as I'm not in anybody's way) and maybe rent the anime if I ever get some cash.
there are quite a few pictures of lain with those sissors.. thing is, I don't really remember her cutting herself with sissors in the anime. Did I miss it?
The picture it's from the artbook and she wasn't cutting herself , she was cutting her hair . It's one of the first photos and it signifies her first contact with the Wired and the changes she's going through .
As for Saikano , I don't find it as deep as Lain though....it's running around the same theme of love is going to save us all and that that is the only thing that can bind two different creatures.

I was first drawn to Saikano due to it's similar appearance to Lain. Beyond that, however, the series didn't quench my Lain-thirst much.
