Like Robinson Crusoe, It's Primitive As Can Be...

News flash: Wi-fi does not imply high-speed internet, apparently. I've become spoiled, perhaps, but when LiveJournal posts time out and no online audio or video will play... I feel like I've back-tracked to the 2800baud days.

Long, boring and probably whiny update... )

As long as you remember to clear out your cache and your web browser history, I wouldn't worry too much, so long as you steer clear of extremely and obviously adult content. I did all kinds of personal posting when I was working for them, and never ran into a problem. Also, the best advice I ever recieved in regards to that job - remember that the Indian cultural awareness is very caste-conscious. Don't ever be submissive. Accomodating, and reasonable, and willing to listen, yes. But don't be submissive. You'll get walked on, over and over again. Know your worth, and demand that they recognize it. Don't let yourself be bullied into staying on the road too long, or taking blame for something on which they did not provide adequate training.

With all those dire warnings, I do have to say that I mostly enjoyed my tenure there, and found some good things in it.

No worries about the prarie dogs, although the frogs around here are a bit intimidating. :)

I think the wildlife count for my first drive included a snapping turtle, a skunk, a ringtail cat, about 10,000 frogs, and two things that might have been peccaries, neutrinas, or bear cubs. I hope you and the Ghent are both doing great!

Howdy! I have a friend that works at a place that rebuilds Dell Laptops (old and new both). Would you like me to inquire as to what's available on the cheapside in that category?

I may well hit you up in a couple of weeks to see what he's got in the realm of a seriously hot-rodded D610 or D630. I'll have to look around and see which machines will run the software for work (some of it doesn't like to play well with others, I have a feeling). ;)

How are things going with you, by the way? I haven't had a chance to touch base with you lately.

Things are great! I'm eagerly awaiting the results of our genetic experiment. My minion-ling should be arriving within 7 weeks or so. =)

Work and hobbies are about what they've been. Never enough time to do the fun stuff after taking care of the boring stuff you have to do to pay for the fun stuff.

So when you're in Dallas, your time will be in increasingly valuable short supply. At this point just assume that I will clear my schedule of everything but work to hang with you, if and when you have the time.

Anything we can care-package out to you? Tiny assassin robot, perhaps?
