To my amazement, I have just received an invitation to the US ambassador's 4th July party. I have to wonder: with my reputation? What were they thinking?

heh.

I went to one of those in Prague once. It was much fun. I was there as an artist's assistant 'explaining' the art installation in the swimming pool to all the Americans. Quite possibly one of the bizarrest days of my life.

I went to a memorable Queen's Birthday Party do when I worked in the British Embassy in Bonn. The husband of one of the embassy secretaries, possibly having overdone the champagne, decided to accompany the German National Anthem on the armpit.

They decided to go back to England shortly after. I wonder why.

I've never been invited :-( It might have something to do with that prank involving a balaclava and a visiting dignitary.

Ask loudly and repeatedly when the Ferrero Rocher are going to be served.

You know you want to.

This is awesomely amusing! :D

I went to a garden party at Buckingham Palace once when I got my DofE Gold Award. I was embarassingly star struck by the royalty on show and it was only Prince Philip and Prince Edward :(

Im thinking of damning them all as rebels and demanding the payment of 230 years of back taxes.

That or truly impressive amounts of Ferrero Rocher.

point out that they're all a bunch of immigrants and they should be re-settled now to ensure the continuation of American culture... or something like that, the logic confuses me!
