"Yes," Arthur said after a long moment. "I think it is. He won't stay here in our protection and I cannot lock him up in the dungeon to keep him safe. He'd escape or he'd hate me even more...or Matthew would. He will be protected in the Northern Kingdom. Safe behind the snow and ice and the extra layers of protection that Ivan has set up around his castle. They won't be able to touch him there

"We have to see Matthew off for his trip to Prussia," he reminded Francis as he took the offered hand and got to his feet. He allowed Francis to lead him from the room out the side entrance that opened to the private corridor that lead to their chambers

I really, really loved Ivan and Arthur here, and don't you worry about your Francis. Your characterization! ♥ The bits that showed the conflict between Arthur and Alfred hurt, in the good way. ): Oh, family.

Love Arthur's shotgun talk XD "YOU WILL TAKE CARE OF MY BABY OR ELSE" And France totally is the cool dad in the situation lol I wonder how Matthew is going to react to the whole mess... and what has Alfred done to catch Ivan's attention in the my first place? Kind of hard to believe that Ivan would want to marry Alfred just based on some heroic stories ...

Ah! Well that answered my question about France. On that note, poor England and France I have a feeling both their sons aren't going to be happy with them good intentions or not. What the threat to Alfred Life? Sadly one question get answer another one comes up. Also will we be seeing a chapter from Ivan's pov?(wink wink nudge nudge)

Anon, I think I love you. Marry me <3
Seriously, I love the way you write Alfred. Strong and angry and with that twinge of insecurity, of not-good-enough.
Ivan and his looming, powerful self, with just enough creeper in him to make him intimidating, but not malicious (or at least the readers know that! ;) )
Arthur is so concerned about Alfred's welfare. I especially love how you show that what happened between Alfred and Arthur was both of their faults and not just the result of one of them pitching a fit.
I'm really eager to find out what's up with that threat! And you mentioned that Arthur's signature didn't have the weird orange flair-up that Alfred's did, what's up with that? Does he have magic after all? I'm kind of hoping not...he doesn't need to use magic to be awesome!

Awww...thank you!
Yeah I need to balance him pretty particularly I don't want him to be bad but I want him to retain some of his manipulative, possessive awesomeness as well. I'm glad he comes out with the right balance.
Oh yeah the events that led to Alfred running away are very much both their faults and no bodies fault. Arthur was a bit too over protective but Alfred refused to see where he was coming from as well.

Hey Anons just wanted to do a quick update to apologize for the amount of time that's passed since the last chapter. Real life has really kicked my butt this February. This has NOT been abandoned. Not sure when part 4 will be up but it's almost completely written so hopefully sometime this week... I promise Kingdom History bits and bobs to try and make up for it and maybe a map if I figure out the whole scanner issue (I recently switched to Win 7 from Win XP so this might require purchasing a new printer/scanner so we'll see but eventually there will be a map.)

Don't worry anon I've put too much time and effort into plotting and planning this universe it won't go down that easily. Part 4 has been giving me fits (who knew Canada could be such a pain) but it's almost done so hopefully sometime this week... *sighs*

Alfred pushed open the door to his old chambers and slipped inside. Once the door was closed behind him he slid the lock into place. It was a useless gesture, his father had the key and any one of the family and some of the more trusted staff members had the magical signature to all the locks on the doors in the private section of the castle, but it still made him feel better to lock it. At least whomever had to open would know they were forcing it

True they had been apart for the last five years but that had always seemed temporary. This was permanent. He was going to be whisked away to the North before he really had a chance to understand what was happening to him. He had no idea when he'd be able to see his family again...or if he would ever be able to at all. The other option was escape but there would be no coming back from that either and no way to let them know he was okay or know how they were fairing. If he managed to get away he'd have to go into deep hiding in the wilds of the most southern parts of Southland if he hoped to escape the Northern King's reach
