Part 11: Anything goes historical, WW1 with Hungary & Serbia anonymous October 3 2010, 17:05:23 UTC

Austria's and Hungary's conflict with Serbia gets worse consequences than anyone of them expected.

Serbia repressed the urge to slam his little idiot admirer's head against the wall repeatably ( ... )

You know, I knew about the whole "Gavrilo Princip almost fucked the assassination up by stopping to chat with a random stranger" thing, but the idea that it was Serbia himself, trying to stop him to avoid the whole world exploding in his face, and majorly fucking it up...

Well, this is my headcanon forever now.

And your Serbia is so amusing (and easy to recognize).

Austria's hair was unruly, a certain sign he was worried. Hungary had learned to read all those little signs ( ... )

“Wow, that made very little sense,” Hungary said. Somehow that was more convincing than if Serbia actually managed to come up with a sensible explanation. Maybe he hadn't outright told the kid to pull the trigger but he still had no issues with the action except how it would get him into trouble. Apologizing probably didn't even cross his mind. As long as Serbia felt that way trouble would just keep on coming.

“We're not done with this,” Hungary warned as she unlocked Serbia's cuffs.

“I know,” Serbia said. “You two don't take me that seriously but remember, Russia promised if you and your wife came after me next he would be there for me.”

“You're not exactly in a position to speak about Austria like that. And you would trust Russia with your life to keep that promise?”

“Russia is my brother,” Serbia protested. “And I have France too, I think, even if he's a bit creepy. I don't want to fight, I know you would fuck me up. But you're going to end up fucked too. I made friends lately. And I fought a lot. Wars I won“Maybe Russia wants ( ... )

Hungary cleaned up before she sat down to tell Austria all about her impressions of what happened in Sarajevo. They shared a bottle of wine and even managed to press in more pleasant conversation before they were forced to return to the main issue ( ... )

...and since Yugoslavia *is* a bit of Serbia's pet-project. Well, was.

I'm sorry Hungary, empires are like that. Never a moment of privacy. I love badass Hungary, btw.

Yeah, Serbia does need to work on his self-preservation insticts. I like how the fact that he went into total rambling mode and made no attempt to apology makes Hungary think he's probably telling the thruth, lol.

I just love the Croatia-Hungary dynamic. It's so dysfunctional and weird and with this undercurrent of sexual tension everybody will deny even under penalty of death. And oh God, I know I shouldn't laugh at it, but the idea of Austria marrying Croatia is hilarious to me. Mostly because of how I imagine Croatia.

And Greater Serbia is probably Serbia's other, less pleasant pet project and pipe dream ;/

I think Croatia imagines a strictly businesslike marriage but one never knows :D That's someone beside Prussia Hungary doesn't want close to her husband...

Very nice. I sort of saw what was coming as soon as the sandwich was mentioned. Feel sorry for Serbia-the-personification, who is clearly doing his best to KEEP things from blowing up here. Not that it helps, givent he greater political reality. (Fun fact! In high school I did a paper on the Archduke's assasination. All the more recent books agreed that four of the plotters weren't executed because of laws against the death penalty for minors - they were under twenty years old at the time. One older book, however, took the plotters not being executed as evidence that the whole thing was an EVIL AUSTRIAN PLOT. They were less clear on what Austria hoped to get out of the plot, considering.)

I liked the personalities of everyone involved, and I liked the mention of the potential threesome, and Hungary's being a hard-ass. You've taken a very nasty historical situation and approached it cleverly with nasty humour, which is probably the best response from this distance. Looking forward to more!

Maybe they liked the chance to smack Serbia for all the arguments they had lately? That's at least something to gain I guess? But otherwise it's kind of hilariously paranoid. Austria could have made a better evil plot I think.

And thanks :)

I'll be following this fill.
I was thinking of requesting something dealing with Serbia since I'm really interested in how the character would be presented, giving it's history.
And you did a great job with the character!

You also have some badass Hungary and I love badass Hungary and historical events as well, this fill has it all.

Thanks, I hope it will turn out well :) If you still end up requesting something with Serbia in the future I might end up trying to write that too ;)
