Have signed up to do NaNoWriMo this year. For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, it's a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30 days of November. Between 8th and 15th September, I went to Andalucia in Spain with my parents. The real highlight of the holiday for me was going whale and dolphin watching in the Strait of Gibraltar. Had my telephone interview for the WEA yesterday morning. I must have done something right because they offered me a place on their tutor panel! I probably won't get to do any teaching for a while because they plan well in advance, but I will get a proper induction and training. Not teaching yet also gives me time to actually write the courses!

On 4th July, I've got to do a telephone interview for the WEA. It could last for up to an hour and has to include a 5 minute presentation. I've never done a telephone interview before and really can't imagine doing a presentation down a phone line.

If anyone has done a telephone interview before and can pass on any tips, I'd be very grateful!

Not that much to report really. I emailed my course plans to the organisation. Their course organiser looked at them and asked me to apply formally. Filled in 12 page application form and submitted it. The acknowledgement said that they only interview once a term-so in theory, I suppose I mightn't even get an interview til September ( Read more... )

There aren't many vacancies in adult/Further Education near where I live or in anything I'm actually capable of teaching. I want to do history and I could do English (literature). Motor vehicle maintenance would be way beyond me...

Anyway, I've emailed my CV to the local College. It's purely speculative, but at least they will know that I exist!
