you know i bet people in california would recycle more if it wasn't so damned hard to do it. only certain places are allowed to take your recyclables and give you $ for em (for non-CA residents: you pay a deposit to buy anything packaged in plastic or glass; you get the deposit back if you take your stuff to a state-operated recycle center, or you ( Read more... )

That was pretty hilarious.
You're right. No one appreciates recyclable aluminum cans like Michiganders.
I think when I was living in Minnesota, it was like 2.5 cents a can, but we still brought them in. Then again, it was easier because you could recycle them in grocery stores and whatnot.
I think I would make this a seasonal ritual... collect cans and bottles and recycle them for the cost of a used CD or something, if I'm lucky.

i'm glad you found it funny! it was not funny while it was happening, but in retrospect it was good.
i like the idea of making it a seasonal ritual, although you'd have to drink a LOT to make up the price of a CD. maybe an after-a-big-party ritual? :)

If you want to plan this type of adventure around a visitor, I will totally go with you on the nex trip, that sounds like exactly the type of LA adventure I want to have. Otherwise my suggestion would be something much more banal, like going to Amoeba or getting coffee or Brite Spot.

I suppose it will be another 3.5 months from now, and I'll still be around then...
