almost every day since i moved here, there's this ASSHOLE playing their annoying car horn, usually between 7 AM-11 PM. it is sort of a mix between the mexican hat dance and the woody the woodpecker theme music, a multi-trumpet, slightly-off-key fanfare of pissing me the hell off. they play it 1-6 times in a row, so my frustration just builds as it ( Read more... )

The variations of the mexican hat dance are everywhere around here... I like to think that the different versions mean different things. Ice cream truck! Grocery van! Drugmobile! I have yet to crack the code, though.

At least you don't have a rooster in your neighborhood!

hehe, maybe they are regional variations of the mexican hat dance, like chiapan hat dance is different from the oaxacan hat dance. and us stupid white people just lump em all together.

i am glad we do not hav a rooster. there is a new neighbor in the apartments next door, and they have a baby, so i get crying noise randomly at all hours of the night now.

I have a friend who told me a story, I think this took place in Baltimore, where she was hanging out with friends and like at 2 in the morning heard an ice cream truck and was all "hey, let's go get ice cream!" and her friends explained that the only thing that truck was offering was a blowjob. An early morning blowjob truck. I can only wonder what song that truck was playing.

OMG that is awesome. i only wish i could have been there when they discovered it was a blowjob truck (like, i am imagining a crowd of drunk hipsters with assymmetrical hair running down the street at 2 AM, whooping about the icecrea they'll sooon buy, waving fistfuls of dollar bills, only to arrive at the truck and find an ugly, topless, toothless woman leaning out the ice-cream truck window: "whaddya want, boys?" she says at them, leering lasciviously.)

i would guess they play another regional variation of the mexican hat dance. the baltimorian version?

There are so many NWA lyrics appropriate for your situation, I don't know where to start.

"I got a shotgun, n here's da plot, takin n---as wid da flurry of buckshot."

You need to get some Warren G, Regulate too. That is kah-lassic LA stuff, and much more laid back. Definitely one of my favorite west-coasters.

When I was little all the way up to when I was in high school, we had a neighbor with a pickup truck whose horn played "Dixie."

I shit you not.

Yes, I am from Georgia.

oh man, i woulda wanted to key his car too. i like the idea of car horns that play songs, but apparently not the actual horns themselves.

I'm sorry, that's pretty sweet. Even if it is wildly obnoxious.

Maybe I can get a job there. Keepin' my options open. Heh.

you heard the horn-- can you give a better approximation of the tune?

it seems like at least a few dudes ride in the back of the (closed) truck. i would assume their jobs have a high turnover rate. :)

wow. food out of the back of a truck!? is that sanitary? it strikes me as sort of odd.

anyway, i find car alarms and wierd horn tones to be infuriating.

i dunno if it is sanitary! they had big glass-fronted freezers like thay have in grocery stores but it just occurred to me-- where do you plug those in inside a truck? it's not like there is a robust electrical system there.
